Why does the Supreme Court Justice position matter?    \  It's truly a shame to have lost Supreme Court  Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, I send nothing but love and peace to the family. 

 Is Democracy Really Dying?     After much reading and understanding the four forms of government,  I'm left feeling perplexed and almost pessimistic. While the reading was beautiful and poetic at times, it almost felt like a facade. For instance, when socrates went on to discuss democracy being that of an "embroided robe", I couldn't help but smile. I came to understand democracy as this very metaphor: our society is rich in diversity of people, races, and ideologies all wanting to contribute to create a better/just world.  However, I wasn't too surprised when Socrates began to show how a democratic leader turns into a tyrant. Such a leader becomes drunk off of freedom and finds any means necessary maintain such power. This leader will manipulate the trust or fear of the people below him and use it towards his advantage.  Doesn't that sound familiar?  Trump mongered fear of Americans who thought their "jobs were being taken away", "criminals we...

 I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. My name is Damaris and I'm a Senior at Notre Dame de Namur University majoring in English and Political Science, with a minor in Africana Studies. Now to be quite honest, I'm unsure as to what I will do with my degree-I've always aspired to become a civil rights attorney, but the prospects of being a teacher, policy analyst, or working for a non-profit are also in consideration. As for my personal life, I'm quite a humble soul who enjoys the simpler things in life. A good cup of coffee, positive energy, and good music is all that I need. In addition,  I'm quite the quirky Black woman as I rock a 70's Afro, drive a Mini Cooper, and watch a tad bit too much anime.
